During a month long trip to the United States, I was tasked with documenting key moments and events of Samm Henshaw's experience. Key moments included the opening event for The Shed NYC, called Sound Track of America, where Samm worked with Greg Phillinganes, Steve McQueen, and Quincy Jones. As well as a new showcase concept at Los Angeles' famed night club, The Sayers Club. Samm also worked heavily on new music in studio sessions with a number of prominent producers and song-writers.

The following selected work was created over the course of the month and includes photography, video, and design I created during this time.

Soundtrack of America

As part of Samm Henshaw's trip he was invited to play Soundtrack of America, a five-night concert series opening The Shed and celebrating the unrivaled impact of African American music on contemporary culture. Conceived and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen, and developed with music visionaries such as Quincy Jones, Greg Phillinganes, Dion ‘No I.D.’ Wilson, and more.

Samm & Friends - The Sayers Club

Following the success of his debut single “Church”, Samm premiered the debut of a new live show concept titled ‘SAMM & FRIENDS’.

In front of 250+ of the top partners and most respected artists/players in the music scene, ‘SAMM AND FRIENDS’ was the first annual assembly of guest musicians bringing new life to the arrangements of both released and unreleased music in a “one-night only experience” -- reminiscent of the wildly celebrated communal spirit and impetuous, improv nature of “the church band”.
